National Cross Country Championships

From Rob Hasler - Thanks Rob !.... 'Just in case you missed the excitement at the weekend ...

Sian Heslop is now the U15 English Cross Country Champion!

The National Cross Country championships returned to the iconic Parliament Hill in London, in what can only be described as beautiful (but very cold) day. The course is one of the hilliest of the season especially when considering the first long and steep climb.

Sian had an amazing race pushing on in the last 1K to take her win by 8 seconds in a field of 464 runners. It was not just Sian who had an outstanding race. Finley Proffitt also secured a top 10 position in the U15 race against a strong field of 504 runners and Louisa Whittingham continued the Harriers top 10 performances to finish in an outstanding 8th Position in the very competitive Junior Women race. Sarah Stockman also ran well to finish high up the field in 39th.

16 Harriers into total went down for the race with a few familiar faces there to support our runners.

Northern XC Champs 2018

A blustery day at Harewood House saw plenty of successes for us at the Northern XC Champs.

Highlights include:
Gold for Sian Heslop in the U15G race.
Bronze for Finley Proffitt in the U15B race.
4th for Sarah Stockman in the U20W race.
6th place for both U13B and U15B teams.

Well done everyone !!

Full results for all the age groups are here,

and below are Sian and Finley looking suitably pleased !

XC Update Jan 2018

Well done to everyone who ran at the Cheshire Champs over at Delamere over the weekend: a tough course with plenty of mud and a bit of a hill too, proper cross country !

*Cheshire Champs XC this Saturday at Delamere Forest*

From Rob and Bob.... 'Macclesfield Harriers have some great teams for this weekend's championship race.

Full list available here:, with more info at

For course maps see:

Bob has asked me to pass this information on to all runners.

"We are being asked to park at the Whitefields car park which is 500m further up the B5152 past the station and Delamere access road. This car park will be manned and then people will be directed across the busy road and through the wooded area to the start finish area.

Car parking will cost and the meters only accept coins (bring £4 to be safe).

Registration is close to the start finish from a cabin in the wardens storage compound.

Some of us have gone round the course. It is going to be testing and I would recommend good trail shoes for anyone running the large laps. The u/11s may prefer spikes as their course is mainly flat and across the fields and first wooded area. None of it is going to be easy- there is a an initial dash (!) across two fields, then a double back thro a wooded muddy area. Then if you are doing the large lap it is a steep winding climb up a trail, followed by a steep decent (caution!) back down into two fields before going round again!"

Cheers, good luck everyone, and see you Saturday.
