Brian Kemp

The sad news has been received  that Brian Kemp passed away on Saturday 28th October 2006.

Brian had had a long association with Macclesfield Harriers & AC.  He represented the club in numerous races and helped officiate at many events - you may have seen him at the recent Macclesfield Half Marathon where he was time keeping.  A few years ago he gave up a considerable amount of his time working for us as club treasurer and did a great job getting the finances in good order.   Brian was a great asset to Macclesfield Harriers and will be sadly missed.  His funeral is to be held on Wednesday 8th November 2006 at 12:30 at Macclesfield Crematorium.

Numbers needed by Friday 17th November!

Sporting Inspiration - Bob Lynch

Bob Lynch
Bob Lynch
Bob Lynch has won a Silk FM Heroes award for Sporting Inspiration. Bob was nominated by Nick Wales (one of our excellent young high jumpers). Nick presented the trophy to Bob at the track on Tuesday night.

Quote from the Silk FM website:

Bob has been involved with Macclesfield Harriers for many years. He has encouraged many young people to get involved in athletics over that time, with many success stories. Bob doesn't just encourage the exceptional sports person - he devotes equal time to helping less able athletes.

A number of photos of the presentation have been added to the gallery

Tesco vouchers

From 11th September until 5th November Tesco are again offering Sports Vouchers at a rate of 1 voucher for every £10.00 spent. Last year the club managed to obtain over 3000 vouchers which were "cashed in" for various sports items used at the track. If anyone uses Tescos for their shopping and/or petrol and feels able to donate their vouchers to the club they will be gratefully received. A collecting box is in the clubhouse at the track or they can be handed to anyone going to the track or sent to Kevin Ranshaw, 33 Linnet Grove, Macclesfield SK10 3QS. Thanks.
