Updated, sorry !! but I missed Sophie Kirk off the list. She was 4th lady and 29th overall in the Peak Sky Race in a time of 5 hr 56, over a 30 mile route with over 6000 feet of climbing based on the Five Trigs of Axe Edge, The Roaches, Shutlingsloe, Shining Tor and Burbage Edge. Well done Sophie !! http://www.peakskyrace.co.uk/
In a week, you could have taken part in three races over exactly the same bit of road, if you'd entered the Meerbrook 15k, Moorlands Summer series race from Leek Cricket Club, and the Leek Half, and several runners did just that.Â
The Leek Summer series race was the last in the Moorlands ten race Series, with overall positions decided on your best 7.
In the series Julie Gardner won her age V55 category (and was 10th Lady),
and there were excellent results for ....
Ruby Spencer, 4th Junior Girl
Jo Miles, 2nd V50, 13th Lady
Allen Bunyan, 4th U23. 9th Man
Julian Brown, 2nd V50, 19th Man
Gary Willcock, 5th V50, 31st Man
Mention also of ex-club member Alistair Thornton, 2nd overall in the series.
Further afield, Saturday saw the Borrowdale fell race, 17 or so miles and 7500 feet of climbing round some of the biggest hills in the Lakes, and an English Championship race.
Four harriers completed the race, well done all :-
Graham Brown 248th, 4 hr 41 min
Rachael Lawrance 254th, 4 hr 44 min
Julie Gardner 256th, 4 hr 45 min
Andy Skelhorn 332nd, 5 hr 26 min.
Well done also to Mandy Calvert, who completed the Long Tour of Bradwell, (33 miles, 6300 feet of climbing !!) in 8 hr 9 min. Â http://wolfspitfellrace.org.uk/index.php/welcome-to-the-tour-of-bradwell-pages
Sunday saw the Leek Half Marathon, back after a short break, around the same 'challenging' course as previously taking in some 'scenery' up on the Roaches. Six club members completed the race.
